Meetings of Working Groups on Public Safety were held in 6 communities of the Kherson region


During December, 6 communities of the Kherson region held meetings of the Working Group on Public Safety and Recovery (WGPSR) for the third time. 

During the meetings, the results of the WGPSR Network's activities in the Kherson region for the second half of 2023 and the joint projects of public organizations and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kherson region, which started their activities in the region with the support of UNDP, were presented.

Mini-initiatives and their progress in the communities were also discussed. In particular, the following initiatives were discussed: installing fire hydrants in communities and uninterruptible power supply systems in medical facilities, restoration of video surveillance systems, and arrangement of security classrooms and a work office for the police.

During the meeting, the results of the online collection of ideas from internally displaced people and residents regarding desired initiatives were presented. The needs of all communities in the field of public security for 2024 were determined. 

Representatives of UNDP, military administrations, the Kherson Regional State Administration, non-governmental organizations, the Main Department of the National Police, the Main Department of State Emergency Service, civil-military cooperation, etc., took part in the WGPSR meeting. 

As a reminder, the WGPSRs were created in Stanislav, Bilozerka, Chornobaivka, Kochubeivka, Vysokopillia, and Novovorontsovka communities at the end of the summer of 2023 by the orders of the heads of the Military Administration and function within the framework of the initiative "Kherson region: public safety and recovery in conditions of change", which is implemented by the "Union" Foundation with the assistance of UNDP in Ukraine with the financial support of the Government of Denmark, provided within the framework of the Program for Reconstruction and Peacebuilding.
