Results of the Working Groups on Public Safety and Recovery in the Bilozerka and Novovorontsovka Communities

In six communities of the Kherson region, the Working Groups on Public Safety and Recovery (WGPSR), which bring together representatives of the military administration, NGOs, rescuers, police, and municipal services, continue their activities.

Special attention is paid to discussing the needs of local fire departments in the development of initiatives and during the meetings of the Working Groups. All needs are recorded in the minutes, and our Foundation, as the Network of Working Groups coordinator in the Kherson region, sends them to UNDP and other international partners to seek support.

Thus, thanks to cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine, we managed to provide the local fire departments in the Bilozerka and Novovorontsovka communities with the necessary equipment.

Fire belts, shovels, cables, a fire shield, and a fire ladder were handed over to the fire department and volunteer firefighters in the communities. The local fire departments in the Bilozerka community also received oxygen cylinders with equipment.

This high-quality equipment will significantly improve the material and technical base and allow firefighters to perform their tasks more effectively.

Currently, a number of initiatives in public safety and social cohesion, identified as priorities at previous RGGBV meetings, are being implemented in the communities.

As a reminder, the WGPSR in the Bilozerka and Novovorontsovka communities was created in the summer 2023 by orders of the heads of the military administrations within the framework of the initiative "Kherson region: public safety and recovery in conditions of change", implemented by the "Union" Foundation with the assistance of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine with the financial support of the Government of Denmark, provided within the framework of the Program for Reconstruction and Peacebuilding.
