How can you find out where your community’s money is being spent?
Who is repairing the school or the road? How much does the work cost? Why did this specific company win the tender? How much has actually been paid to them? And how can you tell if a procurement process warrants closer scrutiny?
We invite civic activists to a practical workshop on monitoring budget expenditures.

This won't be a lecture on procurement; participants will work with real data and actual procurement cases.
In just a few hours, we will learn by practice how to:
- find relevant procurements on Prozorro;
- quickly read contracts and identify key details;
- vet contractors and review their past contracts;
- use the Spending platform to determine exactly how much budget money a company has received;
- spot red flags in procurements and distinguish between suspicious circumstances and proven violations;
- compare documents with what is actually happening in the community;
- formulate specific questions for government bodies and municipal institutions.
You don’t need to be a journalist, lawyer, or economist to participate. All you need is a laptop, internet access, and a desire to understand who is paying your community’s money to whom—and for what.
After all, budget oversight doesn't start with accusations. It starts with the ability to find facts and ask the right questions.
