Trust through dialogue: training for CSOs on effective interaction with the media

On October 30, a training was held in Kherson on how civil society organizations (CSOs) can better interact with journalists.

The goal of the training is to teach CSO representatives how to effectively cooperate with the press, build trust, communicate accurately with the public and the media, and utilize stories as a tool of influence.

The trainer was Daria Litovchenko, a journalist with over 10 years of experience in leading Ukrainian media. She worked on cutting-edge topics of war, evacuation, humanitarian aid, and human rights. In 2025, Daria was awarded the Order of Merit, 3rd degree, for her contributions to the development of Ukrainian journalism.

Among the participants were representatives of CSOs who help Kherson residents get through this difficult time every day. Their experience and Daria's experience formed the basis for a sincere conversation about the role of the media, the challenges of covering public organizations' activities, and ways to build trust between the parties.

The idea to hold a training in Kherson arose at the beginning of the year, when our Foundation organized a meeting of journalists and public activists at the Kherson Club of Active Citizens.

This training was made possible with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED). Its contents do not necessarily reflect the official opinion of EED. Responsibility for the information and views expressed in this publication lies entirely with the author(s).
