The Bilozerska community discussed the implementation of projects aimed at reconstruction and social support for the population

A meeting of the Working Group on Public Safety and Recovery was held in the Bilozerka community, during which participants discussed pressing safety issues and the implementation of projects aimed at recovery and social support for the population.

The meeting participants — representatives of local authorities, charitable organizations, and civil society groups — shared information on current initiatives and near-term work plans.

Representatives of the Bilozerka Military Administration noted that the security situation in the community remains tense and has unfortunately continued to deteriorate. Settlements are regularly subjected to shelling and drone attacks, which often lead to power outages.

Despite the challenging conditions, work continues in the community on projects to restore energy infrastructure and enhance the energy independence of critical facilities.

During the meeting, civic and charitable organizations presented their current projects and immediate plans:

  • The NGO “Bilozerka Center for Regional Development” is implementing projects to distribute repair kits for emergency repairs to damaged homes, as well as providing psychosocial support to children and families with children.
  •  Charitable Foundation “Revival of the Communities of the South” is implementing a project providing psychosomatic care for children and comprehensive support for families. Additionally, as part of the Kherson Consortium for Territorial Resource Allocation (ABA), the foundation plans to provide hygiene kits and diapers to people with limited mobility and bedridden individuals.
  • The Union Foundation plans to purchase safety kits for community residents, which will include fire extinguishers and other personal protective equipment. The plan also includes conducting training sessions on fire, drone, and mine safety, as well as providing first aid. These activities are implemented by the Kherson Regional Charitable Foundation “Union” in partnership with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) within the Kherson Consortium for Territorial Resource Allocation (ABA), which DRC implements together with ACTED and Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) with the support of the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (UHF).

Separately, participants discussed a potential initiative to provide housing for internally displaced persons from the Bilozerka community in safer settlements within the Kherson region.

The meeting once again demonstrated the active cooperation between local authorities and the civil society sector, which, even under extremely difficult conditions, continues to work to address the community’s pressing problems and support its residents.
