6 communities of the Kherson region developed projects at the training on preparation of project proposals from UNDP

On April 18-20, 2024, 6 communities of the Kherson region, where Working Groups for Public Safety and Restoration function, trained on preparing project proposals from UNDP.

19 representatives of the Stanislav, Bilozerka, Chornobaivka, Novovorontsovka, Visokopillya, and Kochubeivka communities participated in the training, including representatives of local self-government bodies, education, medicine, Administrative Services Center, the police, the State Emergency Service, and public figures. Almost all of them are members of the Working Group on Public Safety and Recovery (WGPSR), which has been operating in these communities since last August.

During the training, specific projects relevant to today's communities were developed in the fields of public safety and social cohesion.

The ideas worked out included restoring the video surveillance system, arranging public spaces, developing the activity of the village residents through active participation in the events, even creating park areas for the population, and initiating new training programs for the State Emergency Service.

Eight projects, ranging from goals and objectives to budgets and mitigating potential risks in implementation, were developed during the three days.

These projects and other ideas will be discussed at the next WGPSR meetings in early May to further prepare for the UNDP's funding. The training itself was organized by UNDP with the support of the Government of Denmark.

As a reminder, the WGPSRs were created in the communities by the orders of the Heads of the military administration within the framework of the initiative "Kherson region: public safety and recovery in the conditions of change" implemented by the "Union" Foundation with the assistance of the UN Development Program in Ukraine with the financial support of the Government of Denmark, provided in within the framework of the Program for Reconstruction and Peacebuilding.
