The eighth meeting of the Working Group on Public Security and Recovery (WGSR) was held in the Stanislav community

The eighth meeting of the Working Group on Public Security and Recovery (WGSR) was held online in the Stanislav community.

Traditionally, the meeting was attended by representatives of the military administration, the village council, the administrative services center, the starosta districts, a community police officer, the Union Foundation, and UNDP Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the security situation in the community is complicated. All settlements in the community are constantly exposed to artillery shelling and attacks by Russian drones. The infrastructure has been severely damaged, including administrative buildings and the water supply system. The population of the community has significantly decreased due to the danger, and the evacuation of civilians from the settlements continues.

In light of the current situation, members of the WGPSR discussed potential initiatives that could enhance public safety for residents and employees of institutions: the purchase of first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, medium-power radios, drone detectors, body armor, helmets, fire sprinklers, night vision systems for cars, thermal protective suits for Local fire brigade, etc.

The discussion resulted in a decision to focus on one joint initiative to improve fire safety and ensure communications.

In addition, the results of a qualitative study of the migration attitudes of Kherson region residents abroad are presented.

As a reminder the WGPSR in the communities was created in the summer 2023 by orders of the heads of the military administrations within the framework of the initiative "Kherson region: public safety and recovery in conditions of change", implemented by the Union Foundation with the assistance of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine with the financial support of the Government of Denmark, and during this time has already implemented several public safety projects in the community.
