The first meeting of the Working Group on Public Safety and Recovery (WGPSR) was held in the Velykooleksandrivka community.
Representatives of the military administration, village council, village elders, police, educational institutions, municipal institutions, public organizations, and UNDP joined the working group.
The meeting discussed the general security situation in the community, including the number of registered offenses, property crimes, and Internet fraud.
The issue of restoring the video surveillance system, similar to the "Safe City" that operated before the full-scale war, was discussed.
The meeting participants discussed ideas and initiatives for the Velykooleksandrivka community. In particular, proposals were made regarding mobile shelters, video surveillance and notification systems, safety classes in schools, fire hydrants, fire extinguishers, road signs, the arrangement of a "green room" for working with children, and the development of local public transport.
The need for specialist training in supporting veterans and their family members was noted, as well as the development of a youth council.
Yuriy Antoshchuk, coordinator of the WGPSR network in the Kherson region, presented the network's activities over the past year and a half: during this time, 48 meetings were held in six communities of the Kherson region, about 20 mini-initiatives were implemented, and several grant projects in the field of public safety were implemented.
UNDP representatives presented the announced grant competition for the Velykooleksandrivka and Vysokopillia communities and discussed the conditions for participation.
