Our "Union" Foundation has been coordinating the Working Group on Public Safety and Recovery (WGPSR) in the Kherson region for two years with the support of UNDP in Ukraine.
Such a Working Group has been operating in the Chornobayivka community since the summer of 2023, combining the efforts of the military administration, civil society organizations, police, the State Emergency Service, and active residents. Through joint efforts, group members develop and implement initiatives to strengthen public safety and social cohesion.
One such initiative was the creation of a sports space in the Kyselivka Starostyn district. The idea arose during discussions at the WGPSR meetings and gained broad support. The initiative group prepared a project application, which received funding from the UNDP in Ukraine to support the work of the Working Groups.
An important component was the involvement of community residents. People actively participated in the process. They helped with the installation of equipment and participated in improving the territory. The community forces installed a modern sports ground with exercise machines and a safe surface suitable for both adults and children.
The exercise machines have already been tested by local sports teams under the guidance of an experienced coach.
